About Zakynthos
Zakynthos has a very special connection with the world of wine. Most residents of the island have long maintained a vineyard for the production of wine either for their own consumption or for commercial use. At every table, family, festive or every day, a glass of wine accompanies their meals, bringing people closer, with each other and with the island itself.
The climate and the morphology of the soil have led tomany varieties of wine thriving on the island, such as Goustolidi, Pavlos, Skiadopoulos and Avgoustiatis. The passion and love for winemaking has been passed down from generation to generation, and until today there is an important effort in progress to preserve and develop the native varieties and more, with the aim of placing Zakynthos where it deserves on the wine map of Greece.
Goustolidi
Goustolidi is a rare local grape variety that comes mainly from vines of the mountainous Zakynthos vineyards. It is one of the oldest varieties with a small presence in the different areas of the island but with excellent aromatic and taste elements. It has a pleasant acidity that brings freshness to your glass.
Avgoustiatis
Avgoustiatis comes from a rare Greek grape variety that has been cultivated in Zakynthos since at least the 14th century. It is found in many parts of the island and is characterized by the rich color and the unique aromas; it brings to your glass.
